New Car

We decided to buy a new car! It is a 2010 Ford focus that we named Electra…lol We bought it from Ken Garff Ford in American Fork. The people there were amazingly helpful and mad buying a car very enjoyable.  I am so excited to say that I own my own car now! It is a base model so it is nothing fancy.  It does have power locks, car seat hookups, 3 seat belts and headrests for the back seat, a big trunk, anti lock brakes, an ipod port, and it is an amazing blue color!

Where Happily Ever Afters start

We had an amazing day celebrating the marriage of Tanner and Lindsay Miles.  Tanner is Christian’s younger brother who I have grown to love and admire. Lindsay is my age and is the sister I always wanted.  She is kind, loving and fun to be with.  They got married on June 18, 2010 at the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity. We had a fantastic day between the temple, pictures, and amazing reception. We loved seeing all of our family and spending time visiting with them. Congratulations Tanner and Lindsay!

One Year Anniversary

On May 9th we celebrated our 1 year anniversary.  It has been a wonderful year full of joy and great memories.  I am so lucky to be married to such a wonder, kind, loving, and gorgeous man.  Since our anniversary landed on a Sunday, we went to church and taught a lesson, went to Grandma Miles’ house for dinner and then came home and ate our wedding cake slice that Sue, my mother-in-law, saved for us from our Vegas reception. The cake was actually very tasty and we enjoyed drinking the Argentinian grape juice my brother-in-law Tanner brought back from his mission for us.  Christian bought me a dozen roses which was so sweet and we could enjoy them as we ate the cake.

To celebrate, we went to Salt Lake City to stay at the Little America on Monday night.  They updated us from a garden room to a tower room on the 15th floor (2nd to the top).  It had a nice marble bathroom and glass walk in shower.  The bed was a fantastic king size and the view was gorgeous. We went to see Iron Man 2 which was really exciting because it was on a IMAX screen. We ate at the Market Street Broiler where they have amazing food and caramel ice cream you could die for.  I had shrimp and Christian had Halibut.  Yummy!  We went back to the hotel and went swimming and hot tubing.  We were the only ones in the pool which was very fun. The next day we slept in, checked out and drove to Ikea to look at furniture for our new apartment.  We were really excited to be looking at things we might actually buy in the near future.  At the end of the day we came home and relaxed enjoying the fact that we were not working.  It was a fun Anniversary and we look forward to seeing what our 2nd year of marriage will bring us.

Our friends Dusty and Melinda were sealed for Time and All Eternity at the end of April. We were fortunate enough to have been invited to their sealing at the Manti, UT Temple.  They both looked gorgeous and were so happy.  We are so excited for this wonderful step in their life together.

Trip to Cincinnati!

Christian and I have decided that we are going to move to Fort Thomas, Kentucky at the end of July.  Christian got into a great law school there at the University of Cincinnati.  His school starts on August 16 and my dental assisting program in Florence, Kentucky starts on September 26th. The law school gives a $15000 deduction from the $35000 tuition if you live in Kentucky.  So with that and his $6500 scholorship, it should cost about $11000 a year! We already found an apartment that we love and are truly looking forward to moving into!  It is a two bedroom, with dishwasher, closets, a patio, and is practically new for $700 a month.  We know Cincinnati is the right place for us.

While flying to Kentucky we had a layover in Dallas and we got to meet Abraham Lincoln.  It was so funny to see how people would stare and aks for pictures with him. He was an actor or course.  He was heading to a Lincoln convention. It was so funny!

When we got to Louisville Kentucky on Thursday, we rented a hertz car and headed for Florence where our hotel was located.  The best part about the car was that it had a GPS system.  All we had to do was type in the address and we got immediate directions. The GPS made driving to our multiple destinations quick and easy.  When we got to the hotel, we unpacked and went to Long Horn Steak house across the street for dinner.  It was Christian’s first time and we really enjoyed the food.  Then we headed back to our room to watch Survivor which was awesome as usual. Then off to bed in our amazingly soft King size bed.

The next morning we got up early to get ready and eat breakfast before heading to the law school.  We were there from 9am-2pm learning about the law school. There was a question and answer session with some students and teachers. We really enjoyed the family-like atmosphere and how everyone knew each other.  The class sizes are extremely small for a school in such an urban area. It will be a cool experience. Some students even go golfing on Friday afternoons, which Christian is most excited about.

Next, we headed to my dental assisting school in Florence KY and signed me up for a 10 week course.  By my birthday in December I will be a certified dental assistant and will be able to work in both Ohio and Kentucky!  I am really excited to finally work in a dental office and to be making more money than I am now.

My parents decided to drive the 4 1/2 hours down to visit us that day.  We were going to meet them at our new apartment so we could all tour it together, but they got hit by a crazy big rain storm.  The same storm slowed us down also, so we all met at the apartment around the same time.  It is gorgeous! New, clean, roomy, scenic. It was  fun to have them there to ask questions and see it with us.  Dinner was next at Red Lobster back in Florence. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE CRAB! Then we all went back and watched “What not to wear” and played our card game “guillotine.” The next morning we went to “Steak and Shake” (yes Senta,I thought of you). After saying our goodbyes they drove back to MI and we flew all the way back to Provo.  I have to admit, I wish we could move right now.  We miss Kentucky already!

Last Day at the MTC

I took some pictures of my last day at the MTC.  I really enjoyed working there because of how amazing my co workers are.  I also loved serving the missionaries.  They were always so grateful and kind.  I felt like I was doing a service to the Lord by feeding his servants.

Lucy from Russia and me                                 Me and Masae from Tokyo

Me and Traci who is due in June          Me and Sharon from Norway with whom I exchanged recipes with

Me and Gary the fun maintenance guy        My friend Lisa and her friend Styling our serving uniforms

The cafeteria

My friend Arturo who I helped practice English  Main chef Conrad who worked at the Bellagio in Vegas

Me, Jamie, and Molly.  We had a joke about how you can either be a creepy ginger (redhead) like in Southpark or you could be slutty Ginger from “Gilligan’s Island”.  You can guess what we both picked to be. They are both my really good friends! Good times.

McKay’s Mission Call

My Brother-in-law McKay opened his mission call last Wednesday, so I took pictures. They are pretty self explanatory, but basically he got called to Buenos Aires, Argentina and he enters the MTC on July 14th! We are all so proud of him and are excited for the next adventure in his life.  We love you McKay! You are gong to make an amazing missionary.

Easter

This year for Easter I decided to surprise Christian with a little collection of Easter candy.  We had a cute little ducky, that of course he played with and other yummies like Milk Duds, Pop Rocks, Sour straws, and Runts.  I thought it would be funny to add that it snowed that day…shocker.  So Happy Easter!

We were also able to reflect on the Resurrection of the Savior and celebrate that He lives as we watched General Conference.  How blessed we are to be members of the wonderful Gospel that loves and follows the Savior and His teachings.  We know he died for us and that he loves us.
